If the problem is on the first computer, a successful install on a second might allow you to verify, rebuild, and backup your file. If you don't, you would be doing a quick backup and those boxes would be greyed out. You also should make sure that when you try to back up that you are using the options box and checking complete. Check to make sure you are in single user mode if that is the case. Speaking of that, what year is your program? If you were using 2011 or higher and happened to be in the middle of multi user mode or set for it, that might be why the verify or rebuild boxes are greyed out. I can't help you if you won't meet me halfway. You also didn't tell me if you followed my advice to reinstall your program on this or another computer. Remember, it was your computer that shut down unexpectedly and I advised you that might be the problem. There are third party utilities for the PC. Unfortunately, other than the one that comes with your QuickBooks for Mac program, I am not aware of any utility available to repair these kinds of QB file damage and which is approved by Intuit.
